1. Commercial Director

One of our key clients, a fast-growing food production business who have recently set up operations in Uganda, have a new requirement for a Commercial Director to drive the sales, marketing and distribution strategy.

DUTIES
▪︎ Developing a strong brand for the business in Uganda
▪︎ Leading the development and expansion of the company’s retail outlets
▪︎ Overseeing the development and Expansion of the company’s cold chain distribution network
▪︎ Effectively managing and enhancing wholesale and modern trade sales channels ▪︎ Working closely with the CEO to drive commercial strategy
▪︎ Designing and implementing systems to ensure the business delivers a high-quality product on time and in budget
▪︎ Providing support to the Sales, Marketing and Distribution Managers and Team Leaders, ensuring a constant pool of developing talent
▪︎ Developing relationships with key external stakeholders
▪︎ Ensuring the Commercial department is fully compliant
▪︎ Providing regular reporting to the executive team

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 
▪︎ Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or similar (MBA preferred)
▪︎ 10+ years’ senior management experience within sales in FMCG/food production
▪︎ A proven track record of managing high performing teams within emerging markets
▪︎ A blend of experience both in growing and industry-leading/multinational businesses
▪︎ Strongly detail oriented and analytical

We are currently supporting UpEnergy in the search for a CEO to lead their operations in Uganda. UpEnergy brings innovative products that save energy and improve health within reach of low-income customers; developing distribution channels that sell efficient and clean technologies, primarily efficient cookstoves. They finance their growth through the generation and marketing of carbon emissions reductions sold in Europe, Asia, and North America.
UpEnergy are seeking a CEO to lead their growing distribution team, manage their African climate finance practice, and take the lead in developing new business lines and carbon emission reduction partnerships. This individual will be responsible for driving organisational growth at a profitable social enterprise with the required capital for growth.

DUTIES
▪︎ Providing overall management and leadership over UpEnergy’s Ugandan operations
▪︎ Overseeing performance management including leadership development
▪︎ Ensuring the achievement of existing goals and new growth opportunities
▪︎ Attracting and retaining best talent
▪︎ Managing existing partnerships effectively and developing new strategic relationships
▪︎ Developing channels to expand commercial reach
▪︎ Improving data capture and analysis to drive improvement of business performance
▪︎ Overseeing product development and procurement
▪︎ Overseeing carbon projects including originating new projects to expand UpEnergy’s geographical footprint
▪︎ Setting financial and capitalisation strategy
▪︎ Effectively overseeing financial and accounting management
▪︎ Participating in board meetings to establish and manage strategic priorities

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 
▪︎ Experience in team building and general management
▪︎ Track record in strategic management of organisational growth
▪︎ Good understanding of project finance, development energy or carbon projects
▪︎ Experience managing full P&L
▪︎ Knowledge and experience of carbon methodologies and carbon projects is a plus
▪︎ Strong interpersonal and communication abilities at a senior level
▪︎ Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa
▪︎ Bachelor’s Degree is required
▪︎ Master’s Degree is a plus
