Selcom is a National Payments Systems Licensee of the Bank of Tanzania, has a National  Application Services License from the Tanzania Regulatory Communications Authority  (TCRA), and is PCI-DSS Level 1 Certified. In the Tanzanian market, it has existing  integrations with:
▪︎ 35+ retail and commercial banks;
▪︎ All incumbent Mobile Network Operators including Vodacom Mpesa, Tigo
Pesa, Airtel Money, Zantel Ezypesa, Halopesa, and TTCL Pesa;
▪︎ An independent network of 18,000 + over-the-counter point-of-sale (POS)
agents in Tanzania;
▪︎ A growing network of 30,000+ merchants accepting payments digitally via
their Merchant QR Solution.


ABOUT THE VACANCIES 

1. KEY ACCOUNT ASSOCIATE

We are seeking to hire a skilled Key Account Associate who will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships for our targeted accounts and high value customers within.

Our ideal candidate will be the lead point of contact for all key client matters, anticipate the client’s needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for the client are met, and help the client succeed as they venture into choosing their core technology and payments partner. The key account associate will focus on bringing in new business from existing clients and develop new relationships with potential clients across different sectors based on quarterly targets.

DUTIES:
▪︎ Develop and maintain strategic long-term trusting relationships with our high
volume clients to accomplish organic growth and long-term company objectives
▪︎ Ensure strategic account planning process in which departmental financial targets,
performance objectives, account management standards, and critical milestones over specific periods of time are decided and met upon for lead generation and conversion
▪︎ Expand relationships and source new leads through strategic planning with the team while keeping up to date with industry and market trends and best practices,through both primary and secondary research
▪︎ Measure, track and analyze key account metrics related to sales and retention,
focused on upselling and cross-selling
▪︎ Create reports for upper management and analyzing client data to provide customer
relationship management
▪︎ Regular monthly and quarterly contact with key client managers, and regular update and reporting for sales performance improvement of the core team

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 
▪︎ Minimum 2-3 years previous work experience in sales, management, b2b sales, value chain management or relevant experience
▪︎ Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
▪︎ In-depth understanding and connections with large Tanzanian SMEs and businesses
▪︎ Experience and exposure in Dar es Salaam, and beyond Dar-es Salaam
▪︎ Aptitude in networking and building relationships
▪︎ Problem-solving and negotiation aptitude, especially in the payments space
▪︎ Data analysis or familiarity with Business Intelligence tools
▪︎ Basic computer skills, and experience with CRM software and the Microsoft Office
Suite, with emphasis on Powerpoint and Excel .

This will be tested on a 6-month probation period. Upon successful completion of probation, a full-time contract will follow

2. DATA SCIENTIST

OVERALL: 
At Selcom we rely on insightful data to power our systems and solutions. We are looking  for a data scientist who will analyse large raw information and find patterns that will help  us make smarter decisions and deliver better products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality  prediction systems integrated with our products

DUTIES:
▪︎ Work with large, complex transactional and financial data sets to solve routine and
non-routine analysis problems, and applying advanced analytical methods as
needed. Use data and insights to drive core product strategy
▪︎ Build and maintain reports, dashboards and metrics to monitor product performance
▪︎ Develop machine learning, statistical and optimisation production-able models to
enhance and scale product features and performance
▪︎ Test data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on a project
▪︎ Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve  data collection method

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 
▪︎ Required: Bachelor’s/Master’s in STEM (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics,
Engineering, Economics)
▪︎ Desirable: Postgraduate diploma or degree in big data, business analytics, data
analytics or data science

Skills and Experience
▪︎ Excellent knowledge and proven experience of data science tools, including
  •Python coding, SQL, R, A/B Testing, and Data Visualisation
▪︎ Minimum 2 years of work experience in a similar role
▪︎ Big picture thinking - correctly diagnosing problems and product-ionising research
▪︎ Deep understanding of fundamentals of Probability and Statistics
▪︎ Effective listening skills in order to understand the requirements of the business
▪︎ Have a drive and the resilience to be expected to work with minimal supervision, so self-motivation is important
▪︎ Planning, time management and organisational skills
▪︎ Ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines
▪︎ Great attention to detail
▪︎ Team Working skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding
solutions
▪︎ Proficient communication and collaboration skills to partner with product owners and business heads
