POSITION: ACCOUNTANT TRAINEE (1 POST)
EMPLOYER: UNIVERSITY OF DAR ES SALAAM
DUTY STATION: DAR ES SALAAM

ABOUT THE VACANCY 

DUTIES:
▪︎ Performs variety of accounting tasks including receiving and paying out cash and cheques;
▪︎ Maintain fuel and accurate accounts records;
▪︎ Checking the correctness of claims and retirements ensuring that they are supported by appropriate authority/evidences;
▪︎ Custodian of accountable documents;
▪︎ Preparing monthly trial balances and bank reconciliation statements;
▪︎ Maintain debtors and creditors;
▪︎ Prepare financial statements;
▪︎ Check accuracy of payment vouchers;
▪︎ Prepare periodic and and/or annual financial statements of revenue and expenditures;
▪︎ Receives and keeps in proper custody all incoming bills and claims;
▪︎ Maintains primary books of accounts;
▪︎ Prepares payment requisitions;
▪︎ Maintains true and accurate accounts records;
▪︎ Performs any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
▪︎ Possession of Bachelor Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Commerce/ Business Administration majoring in Accountancy or Finance or any relevant field from a recognized Institution. 
▪︎ The candidate must possess CPA (T)/ACCA or its equivalent professional qualifications recognized by NBAA with at least four (4) years relevant experience.  

SALARY SCALE: PGSS 9.1

TERMS OF SERVICE:
▪︎ Short-term one (1) year fixed term contract. Possible continuation to following fixed terms contracts is subject to satisfactory performance and budget availability.

OTHER  BENEFITS: 
▪︎ Employers’contribution to Workers Compensation Fund (WCF (0.05%)
▪︎ Employers’contribution to National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF (3%)
▪︎ Employers’contribution to pension fund (15%).

GENERAL CONDITIONS:
▪︎ All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania of not more than 45 years of age;

▪︎Applicants must attach certified copies of the following certificates:
  • Postgraduate/Degree/Diploma/Certificates;
  • Postgraduate/Degree/Diploma transcripts;
  • Form IV and Form VI National     Examination Certificates;
▪︎ Professional Registration and Training
▪︎ Certificates from respective Registration or Regulatory Bodies;
▪︎ Birth certificate;
▪︎ Applicants must attach their recent passport size photo;
▪︎ Applicants employed in the Public Service on permanent and pensionable terms and those who retired/resigned or were terminated from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply;
▪︎ Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA);
▪︎ Certificates from Foreign Universities should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU);
