The word Geita is derived from three words of the Wayango tribe (Warongo) which is the Akabanga keita abhantu meaning the disappearance of the landscapes that were on the mountain of the Akabanga keita abhantu which was used by the poets as a place of traditional ritual. This Geita was famous for Europeans failing to pronounce the words Akaba keita abhantu and thus ceasing to be Geita to this day.
